The universal carrier (1) has a telescopic portion (3) which is axially displaced relative to a base (2). The telescopic portion and the base are connected through a flexible element (4) so that a predetermined universal carrier extension length is obtained by pushing the base or telescopic portion against a force of the flexible element. The flexible element is fixed at several axial positions on the base or telescopic portion. The universal carrier extension length is adjusted by changing the axial position of the flexible element on the base or the telescopic portion. An independent claim is included for universal carrier arrangement.
