To efficiently generate a translated caption regarding a text video in a video.SOLUTION: The caption generation device comprises: a text information extraction unit 11 for extracting character information from a video including characters; a text coincidence detection unit 12 for detecting character information included in dialogue sentence information as data of a dialogue sentence associated with video data in the extracted character information; a text translation unit 13 for translating the character information; a display position calculation unit 18 for, on the basis of text area information 130 indicating an area where the video associated with the character information is displayed in video data 100 and translated text information 150, calculating a display position of the translated text information 150 in the video data 100; and a caption synthesis unit 19 for, on the basis of the display position information 160, adding the translated text information as a caption.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
