To provide alpha-proteinase inhibitor (A1PI) for delaying onset or progression of pulmonary exacerbations.SOLUTION: A composition for delaying the onset or diminishing the progression of one or more sets of symptoms associated with pulmonary exacerbations by the administration of inhalation comprises 2-15 mg/kg/day (100-200 mg/day) of A1PI. The sets of symptoms include: i) an increased cough; ii) a change in sputum; iii) decreased appetite and/or decreased weight; and iv) a change in the respiratory examination and/or respiratory rate.SELECTED DRAWING: None
