To provide a storage device and exhaust method for a storage device capable of preventing outflow of high concentrated gas while simplifying structure.SOLUTION: A storage device 10 includes a smoke detector 150 installed in a path of exhaust gas 102, an exhaust damper 32, a first exhaust fan 42, and a control device 30 for controlling drive of a second exhaust fan 118. The control device 30 includes a ventilation controller 154 for transferring from a normal mode to an emergency mode, at least closing the exhaust damper 32, halting power supply to the first exhaust fan 42, and driving rotation of the second exhaust fan 118, when a signal from the smoke detector 150 indicates smoke detection.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 7
