To solve the problem in which: in the prior art, when remaining amount information cannot be acquired immediately after attachment, the remaining amount information at the attachment cannot be accurately recorded; especially, as a recycled toner cartridge is filled with toner, a remaining amount cannot be estimated from a page count.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus estimates, for a record in which remaining amount information becomes uncertain at attachment, the remaining amount information at the attachment at a timing at which the remaining amount information becomes not uncertain on the basis of past actual results stored in a cartridge exchange history, and updates the remaining amount information.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5
