To provide a novel method enabling very rare stray light in an optical system to be automatically and surely analyzed.SOLUTION: An optical system design support system for finding a possibility of occurrence of stray light in a designed optical system comprises: a parameter determining section determining a parameter; a locus calculating section calculating a locus of a ray in a designed optical system using the determined parameter; and an evaluation value calculating section calculating an evaluation value indicative of a probability of occurrence of stray light for the parameter based on a comparison between the calculated locus and the locus expected under the parameter in an ideal optical system. The parameter determining section determines the parameter to be used for the next locus calculation so that the parameter to be used for the next locus calculation comes closer to the determined parameter as the evaluation value is higher, based on the parameter used to calculate the past locus and the evaluation value calculated for the parameter.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 8
