To provide a technique capable of acquiring tip information of a tool with a simple structure.SOLUTION: A tool holding tool 200 for holding a tool 300 is held to a spindle 100 which can rotate around a rotary shaft C parallel to a z axis, so that a tool holding tool reference phase S matches a spindle reference phase K. The spindle reference phase is configured so that, a direction parallel to an x axis around the rotary shaft is regulated as a rotary reference position on an x-y plane. By using a light emitter 440 and a camera 450 each of which is arranged on each of both sides of a y-axis direction sandwiching the tool, a measurement signal indicating a distance M along the x-axis direction between the tip 301 of the tool and the rotary shaft, is acquired. The measurement signal is acquired while changing a rotary angle θ from a rotary reference position. Then, a rotary angle θmax when the distance M is a maximum distance, and a maximum distance Mmax are distinguished, out of distances M, and a core height indicating a distance L between the tip of the tool and the tool holding tool reference phase, on a plane orthogonal to the rotary shaft is determined.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
