To provide a measurement method of a tatami laying region for expressing sizes of a room and a tatami by a direct metric system without the intervention of a Japanese system of weights and measures.SOLUTION: A measurement method of a tatami laying region comprises: a reference line installation process for installing linear reference lines 21, 22 to a tatami laying region 12; a one-side region measurement process; and the other-side region measurement process. The one-side region measurement process and the other-side region measurement process are performed by using a gauge 30 which is imparted with mm-unit scales by a metric system, and measure dimensions of a one-side region and the other side region which are divided by the reference lines 21, 22 out of the tatami laying region 12. The one-side region measurement process and the other-side region measurement process make end parts P1, P2 being base points of the gauge abut on a one-side or the other-side inner frame 11, acquire positions in which the reference lines on the gauge pass in a state that the gauge is arranged so as to intersect with the reference lines at a right angle, and thereby measure dimensions from the one-side or the other-side inner frame up to the reference lines by a mm-unit absolute value.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 7
