The present invention relates to a 5th generation (5G) or pre-5G communication system for supporting a data transmission rate higher than that of a 4th generation (4G) communication system such as long term evolution (LTE). The present invention relates to the transmission of a filter bank multi-carrier (FBMC) symbol in a wireless communication system, and a method for operating a transmission terminal comprises the steps of: transmitting a first FBMC symbol generated by applying filters to subcarriers according to a first pattern; and transmitting a second FBMC symbol generated by applying the filters to the subcarriers according to a second pattern.
