A workplace monitoring system includes a communication component that receives image data representing at least one image of a workplace captured by an unmanned aerial device imaging apparatus. The system further includes a controller, with memory and processing architecture to execute instructions stored in memory, coupled to the communication component. The controller includes a scene module, an object module, and a map module. The scene module is configured to evaluate image data and generate a workplace scene image based on at least the image data. The object module is configured to identify at least one first object in the image and abstract the first object as object symbology. The map module is configured to generate a workplace map with object symbology layered over the scene image.
