An alphavirus replicon RNA comprising: at least one non-structural replicase domain from an alphavirus and at least one non-alphavirus heterologous sequence encoding at least two reprogramming factors (RFs) to induce the generation of pluripotent stem cells when expressed in a somatic cell, where the at least two RFs are selected from the list consisting of KLF4, OCT-4, SOX-2, c-MYC or n-MYC or I-MYC, GLIS1 and NANOG.
