To obtain a novel gait parameter useful in evaluating the gait movement of asubject. A triaxialacceleration sensor and a triaxial angular rate sensor are mounted on each ofthe lower limbportions on both sides of at least one of one joint among joints constitutinga part of at leastone lower limb of a subject. The acceleration and angular rate of each lowerlimb portion aremeasured by the triaxial acceleration sensor and triaxial angular rate sensorwhile the subject iswalking. The orientations of each lower limb portion while walking arecalculated on the basisof the measured acceleration and angular rate. A three-dimensional modelincluding themotion trajectory of at least one joint is constructed by linking the lowerlimb portions in thecalculated orientation to each other. The angle formed by the accelerationvector of at leastone joint when the heel strikes the ground to the movement trajectory in thesagittal plane iscalculated as a gait parameter.
