The invention relates to a transceiver component (106) and method for communicating, wherein the transceiver component (106) is designed to at least periodically receive output data for a data bus at a first input (120) of the transceiver component (106) according to a transmission protocol, wherein the first input (120) is designed for connection to a first pin (110) of a microcontroller (102), wherein the transceiver component (106) is designed to at least periodically transmit input data for the microcontroller (102) from the data bus to a first output (122) of the transceiver component (106) according to the transmission protocol, wherein the first output (122) is designed for connection to a second pin (110) of the microcontroller (102), wherein the transceiver component (106) has a transceiver (118) which is designed to at least periodically receive the output data from the first input (120) and transmit same via the data bus, wherein the transceiver (118) is designed to at least periodically receive input data from the data bus and to transmit same via the first output (122), wherein the transceiver component (106) has an additional functional device (136) which is deigned to perform an additional function, wherein the transceiver component (106) is designed to at least periodically receive additional data for the additional function via the first input (120) according to the transmission protocol, and/or to at least periodically transmit additional data for the additional function via the first output (122) according to the transmission protocol, wherein the transceiver component (106) comprises a first transceiver bus controller (202), wherein the first transceiver bus controller (202) has a first communications input (146) that can be connected to an output (126) of the transceiver (118) for receiving the additional data, and/or wherein the first transceiver bus controller (202) has a first communications output (212) that can be connected to a second input (124) of the transceiver (118) for transmitting the additional data.
