[Problem] The purpose of the present invention is to provide: an orthodontic archwire that applies an appropriate amount of torque to the root of a tooth to be orthodontically corrected and moved and applies an appropriate amount of horizontal force to the crown of that tooth to achieve translation of the entire tooth and thereby prevent root resorption which would accompany orthodontic treatment; and a method for manufacturing the orthodontic archwire and a method for attaching the orthodontic archwire. [Solution] The archwire 2 includes a wound portion 213a that is wound three or four times and is formed on a main wire portion 21 at a position corresponding to a gap S formed by extraction of a tooth of the subject being treated. The archwire 2 is mounted on a tooth T of the subject, and upon activation of the wound portion 213a, a torque Ft is applied to the root Tr of the tooth being orthodontically corrected in the initial stage of orthodontic correction and a horizontal force Fh to the crown Tc of the tooth being orthodontically corrected in the latter stage of the orthodontic correction, enabling movement of the entire tooth toward the gap S.
