The present invention provides a mobile phone data-based vehicle model identification method and device for resolving the issue of providing a convenient and low-cost vehicle model identification method. The method comprises: obtaining movement trajectory data of mobile phones of users recorded in a base station within a first preset period; determining, according to the movement trajectory data, mobile phone users in the same vehicle to obtain a vehicle trajectory and the number of the users in the vehicle corresponding to the vehicle trajectory; obtaining, according to the vehicle trajectory, a start point and a destination point of the vehicle, and combining the same with geographic data to obtain the types of the start point and the destination point of the vehicle trajectory; obtaining, according to the vehicle trajectory, vehicle driving data; and obtaining, according to the vehicle trajectory, data of a service area in which the vehicle stays. The present invention uses big data of mobile phones, and mobile phone signaling data collected and provided by operators, and therefore the costs of obtaining data are low.
