Provided are a flash control method, a pan-tilt zoom head device to which the control method is applied, a handheld pan-tilt zoom head, and an unmanned aerial vehicle. The flash control method is used for controlling a plurality of flashes (230) mounted on at least one of a pan-tilt zoom head, a photographing device, or a device externally connected to a pan-tilt zoom head, and comprises steps of: acquiring perspective information of the photographing device (240) by using a sensor, and sending the perspective information to a controller; the controller determining, according to the perspective information, a direction in which the flashes are to emit light, and selecting, on the basis of the direction in which the flashes are to emit light, at least one of the plurality of flashes (230); and the controller controlling the selected flash (230) to emit light. The flash control method enables selection of a flash with a light emitting direction matching a required light emitting direction and controls the selected flash to emit light, thereby facilitating a flashbulb to constantly maintain optimal lighting effects.
