A gesture password protection method, comprising: acquiring a plurality of pictures, and randomly distributing the plurality of pictures in a plurality of locations in a gesture password input page for display (202); receiving a picture selection instruction, and in response to the picture selection instruction, acquiring pictures selected by a user in the gesture password input page and a sequence in which the pictures are selected (204); generating a current gesture password character string by using the selected pictures and the sequence in which pictures are selected (206); sending the current gesture password character string to a server, so that the server acquires a pre-set gesture password character string, and comparing the current gesture password character string with the pre-set gesture password character string; if consistent, generating prompt information that a gesture password is correct (208); and receiving the prompt information returned by the server, and entering an operation page according to the prompt information (210).
