Provided are a method for promoting the proliferation of pluripotent stem cells and a proliferation-promoting composition therefor. In one embodiment, provided is a composition for promoting the proliferation of pluripotent stem cells, said proliferation-promoting composition comprising hemagglutinin or a mutant thereof. In another embodiment, provided is a method for promoting the proliferation of pluripotent stem cells, said method comprising culturing the pluripotent stem cells in a medium containing the proliferation-promoting composition according to the present disclosure.
