Disclosed are an unread message processing method and a mobile terminal. The method comprises: if a first touch control operation, input by a user, for controlling the display of an unread message is received, acquiring a first application icon of an application of the unread message; displaying the first application icon at a first pre-set position, wherein identification information of the unread message is displayed on the first application icon; if a second touch control operation for the first target application icon is received, executing processing corresponding to the second touch control operation on the unread message corresponding to the first target application icon, wherein the target application icon is one or more of the first application icons.
