This plate-type heat exchanger is configured such that: a plurality of heat transfer plates having openings at the four corners are layered; the heat transfer plates are joined to each other by brazing at portions thereof; a first flow passage in which a first fluid flows and a second flow passage in which a second fluid flows are formed alternately with the heat transfer plates as a boundary and are continuous with the openings at the four corners; and formed are a first header which causes the first fluid to flow in and out, and a second header which causes the second fluid to flow in and out. The plate-type heat exchanger, wherein: at least one of the heat transfer plates that sandwiches the first flow passage or the second flow passage is constituted by stacking two metal plates; and of the two metal plates, the metal plate located in the second flow passage is configured to be thinner than the metal plate located in the first flow passage.
