Provided in the present invention is a method for assessing damages after vehicle collisions, comprising: (a) obtaining historical vehicle damage assessment cases and establishing a database of historical vehicle damage assessment cases; (b) receiving information in respect of a vehicle for which damage is to be assessed; (c) based on historical damage assessment case data and according to said information, calculating and determining an assessed damage amount for the vehicle. The present damage assessment method uses big data and machine learning technology, and is able to quickly and accurately provide an individualized assessed damage amount, and is not only appropriate for use by individual insurance companies, but also for third party damage assessment platforms.
