The present application relates to a device for identifying the correct moment at which to interrupt the diverted-water flow of a system that diverts water from drainage pipes or water conduits for later re-use. Specifically, this is a device that improves the tanks (8) described in patent BR 10 2014 008516-5, entitled INTEGRATED SYSTEM FOR RECOVERY OF CLEAN WATER AND THERMAL ENERGY FROM HOT WATER PIPES, filed on 09/04/2014 by the same inventor and applicant as for the current application. It pertains to the technical field of water-saving, recovering thermal energy and civil engineering. There is a tank (18), for metering the volume of diverted water, that receives water from drainage pipes (5) or water conduits (58) and provides a volume of water to the aforementioned tanks (8). The inflows and outflows are regulated by water-inlet and -outlet valves and, preferably but in a non-limiting manner, inflow and outflow are regulated respectively by a water level control valve (19) and shut-offs (33 and 42).
