Provided is a culture-vessel base material that is formed of a polyolefin-based material and that is capable of easily forming a culture vessel that can be used for culturing adherent cells. The present invention provides a base material for a culture vessel that is used for culturing adherent cells and that is formed of a polyolefin-based material, wherein: at least a portion of a surface of the base material, which is used as a culture surface of the culture vessel, is surface-treated; and the static water contact angle of the surface-treated surface is greater than 80º, and the receding contact angle thereof is less than 53º.
