According to the present invention, disclosed are an apparatus for transmitting data by utilizing color interleaving in a visible light communication system and a method thereof. According to one embodiment of the present invention, the apparatus for transmitting data may comprise: a data transmission area determining unit determining a plurality of data transmission areas formed respectively by a plurality of lighting devices; feedback receiving units, each formed by the plurality of data transmission areas and provided to receive feedback information on interference among a plurality of color channels having the same channel length from a user terminal device; a preference receiving unit receiving preference information of data transmitted through the plurality of color channels from the user terminal device; and a color interleaving unit provided to differently change the length and a color pattern of each of the plurality of color channels based on the received feedback information and the received preference information. According to the present invention, it is possible to reduce inter-channel interference and bust errors occurring depending on the superposition of data transmission areas in an indoor environment and the nature of light.
