The shaped sawing wire configured to cut the hard material includes a wire having a bent portion with segments therebetween. The wire has a tensile residual stress to maintain the shape of the wire during sawing. The sawing wire retains its shape from the sawing process to the exit of the wire after the entry of the cut, which exhibits a significantly improved cutting efficiency.
