The present invention relates to a muscle atrophy inducing agent containing a hypometabolism inducing material selected from a group consisting of 3-iodothyronamine (T1AM), [D-Ala2, D-Leu5]-enkephalin (DADLE), 5′-adenosine monophosphate (5′-AMP), and hydrogen sulfide (H_2S) as an active ingredient; to a method for producing a muscle atrophy study model, wherein the method comprises a step of inducing muscle atrophy by administrating the muscle atrophy inducing agent; to a study model produced by the same; to a method for screening a drug for preventing or treating muscle atrophy by using the same; and to a composition for preventing or treating muscle hypertrophy. According to the present invention, the muscle atrophy study model uses a hypometabolism inducing agent capable of being mass-produced such that an economical study model for studying muscle atrophy can be provided. The muscle atrophy study model can be useful for the inspection of screening an agent for preventing or treating muscle atrophy, and can be useful as a composition for preventing or treating muscle hypertrophy through a muscle atrophy effect.
