The present invention relates to an apparatus for rating a degree of hair damage by using a sound created in hair when an external force is applied to the hair, and a method for rating a degree of hair damage using the same. According to the present invention, the apparatus for rating hair comprises: a hair fixing unit to fix hair; one or more sound collection unit to collect a sound created when an external force is applied to fixed hair; a sound processing unit to convert the collected sound into a waveform; and a hair state rating unit to analyze the waveform to determine a damage degree of the hair. Also, according to the present invention, the method for rating a degree of hair damage uses the apparatus to rate a degree of hair damage. If the apparatus and the method are applied, hair property differences shown by hair surface and internal damage of hair can be analyzed, and time and costs spent in hair state determination can be reduced.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2019
