Disclosed is a composition for improving microbial flora, comprising an extract of Polygonum Multiflorum root as an effective component, wherein the composition may suppress the growth of harmful bacteria while promoting the growth of beneficial bacteria. The extract of Polygonum Multiflorum root is extracted using a solvent selected from the group consisting of water, alcohol having 1-4 carbon atoms, ethyl acetate, diethyl ether, dichloromethane, acetone, and a mixture thereof.
