TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT SYSTEM USING FACE RECOGNITION

The present invention relates to a traffic management system using face recognition, comprising: a camera installed in traffic lights to photograph a periphery of the traffic lights; an image processing unit for analyzing images of the photographed periphery of the traffic lights to determine whether a face is recognized; and a traffic light control device including a signal control unit for controlling vehicle traffic lights to be operated for a preset minimum time when there is a pedestrian standing by, and controlling pedestrian traffic lights not to be operated when there is no pedestrian standing by, based on the determined face recognition. According to the present invention, if a face is recognized in an image obtained by photographing a periphery of traffic lights, it is determined that there is no pedestrian standing by, and thus vehicle traffic lights are controlled to be operated for a preset minimum time. In addition, if there is no pedestrian standing by, pedestrian traffic lights are controlled not to be operated, and thus a waiting time of pedestrians and vehicles is reduced, thereby smoothly controlling traffic flow.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2019
