The present invention relates to a power factor compensation system for a delta wiring method which realizes a control algorithm for effectively operating a power factor compensation system in a three-phase four-wire power system, and to a power factor compensation method thereof. The power factor compensation system for a delta wiring method comprises: a power factor measuring unit calculating a measurement power factor by measuring voltage and current of a power system; a power factor controlling unit receiving the calculated measurement power factor from the power factor measuring unit, and comparing the same with a preset target power factor, thereby generating a power factor control signal to control a power factor compensation; and a power factor compensation unit connected to and installed on a three-phase four-wire power system by delta wiring, and compensating the measurement power factor calculated from the power factor measuring unit corresponding to the preset target power factor in accordance with the power factor control signal received from the power factor controlling unit.
