Hemolysis and reaction of the blood sample into the composition; (b) administering the reactants to an absorption pad of the cartridge followed by washing with a wash solution; (c) measuring the amount of total hemoglobin and glycated hemoglobin by measuring optical reflectance of the absorption pad with an optical instrument; And (d) calculating a ratio of glycated hemoglobin based on the measured total hemoglobin and glycated hemoglobin levels.
