FIELD: chemistry.;SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of preparing a hydrofining catalyst for petroleum fractions, comprising impregnating a support with a solution of metal compounds of groups VI and VIII. Support used is aluminium oxide, pre-saturated with a solution of hexamethyltrisiloxane in acetone, dried at temperature of 100 °C and calcined at temperature of 450–550 °C, for impregnation a combined impregnating solution containing a phosphoric-molybdenum or phosphoric-tungsten heteropolycomplex, ions of metals of Group VIII Me²⁺, an organic complexing agent from a series of oxyacids - citric acid.
