The present invention relates to a method for detecting toacoustic emission distortion products (DPOAE), comprising the steps of: (a) outputting at least one first primary tone pair each of a first primary tone with frequency f _1,1 and sound pressure level L _1,1 and a second primary tone with Frequency f _2,1 and sound pressure level L _2,1 with f _2,1 f _1,1 , and (b) detecting evoked distortion products of otoacoustic emissions (DPOAE), characterized in that the first primary sound {f _1,1 , L _{1 , 1} } with a time delay t _lag after the second primary tone {f _2,1 , L _2,1 } is output.
