The invention has for its object to provide a method and an apparatus of the type mentioned above, which allows efficient storage and handling of various multimodal data from one or more stationary or mobile devices, software or other sources arbitrarily organized. According to the invention, the solution succeeds by transferring the data by means of a cable, wirelessly or by another device from a source to a central unit in real time or with a time delay, where it is combined, arranged and organized on the basis of a special algorithm. Thus, the detection, efficient storage and evaluation of very complex, diverse data allowing, after a single or contiguous analysis, better extraction of information about the object to be examined and its environment, is made possible. The resulting data format is abbreviated as flexible universal file format (fluff).
