The invention relates to a collision detection device (2) for detecting a collision of a robotic device (1) comprising at least one robot unit (5) with an object, comprising: a sensor unit (10); a contact unit (11), which is adjustable between a rest position, in which an action of the contact unit (11) on the sensor unit (10) and a release position, in which the contact unit (11) acts on the sensor unit (10); and a control unit (8), by means of which it is possible to determine whether a collision value is provided by the sensor unit (10) and by means of which the robotic device (1) is controllable. According to the invention, it is provided that the sensor unit (10) has at least one electrical switching element (14) which can be switched on the basis of an adjustment of the contact unit (11). Furthermore, the invention provides a method for operating such a collision detection device.
