To provide a method of reducing precipitate on an apparatus that is used for high temperature short time (HTST) treatment to inactivate viruses.SOLUTION: Provided is a method for inactivating virus or adventitious agents in cell culture media while the cell culture media maintain suitability for cell culture, the method comprising: (a) subjecting the cell culture media to HTST treatment; and (b) adjusting one or more parameters selected from the group consisting of pH, calcium level, and phosphate level.SELECTED DRAWING: None
