To provide a seam-welding device and a seam-welding method which can suppress deterioration in detection accuracy of a work-piece position detection sensor.SOLUTION: A seam-welding device comprises: an electrode holding mechanism 14 that holds a pair of roller electrodes 12A and 12B so that directions of shafts of the pair of roller electrodes 12A and 12B can be changed; a work-piece position detection sensor 16, arranged at a position separated away from edge parts of a flange pair FP sandwiched by the pair of roller electrodes 12A and 12B, which detects positions of the edge parts; a control part 18 that controls the electrode holding mechanism 14 on the basis of a detected result by the work-piece position detection sensor 16; and an air curtain generation mechanism 20 that generates an air curtain AC between the work-piece position detection sensor 16 and the flange pair FP.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
