The present invention is directed to systems, devices, and methods for producing gallium radioisotopes on particle accelerators using solid targets and Ga-68 compositions produced by this method. The solid target assembly device has a metal disc and a zinc portion on top of the disc. The device is made by preparing a certain amount of zinc, depositing it on a metal disc, melting the zinc, cooling and solidifying it. To facilitate the bond between the substrate and zinc, the disk surface can be prepared prior to applying zinc. Ga-68 is produced by placing the device in a cyclotron target irradiation station, irradiating it, separating it from the irradiated Zn, and collecting and storing the separated Ga-68.
