An objective of the present invention is to provide a livestock raising method that enhances the immunity of livestock by increasing the amount of endogenous melatonin secretion, with little disturbance of the circadian rhythm of the livestock. The method utilizes the following: a first circadian cycle comprising an interval, in which the livestock is exposed to light containing a wavelength of less than 500 nm and a dark interval, in which the livestock is not exposed to light; and a second circadian cycle comprising an interval, in which the livestock is exposed to light containing wavelengths for which the peak wavelength is in the range of 570 nm to 610 nm, and in which there is no exposure to light at a wavelength of less than 500 nm. The second circadian cycle is carried out after the first circadian cycle.
