"Isolated nucleic acid, method to prepare a variant functional sesquiterpenum synthesise, synthesize, polypeptide, vector, host cell, non-human organism, and, methods to produce a recombinant host cell, a sesquiterpenum synthesis, and at least a terpenoid". the invention concerns sesquiterpeno syntheses of plants of patchuli (pogoston cablin),and methods of its production and use. In a form of realization, the invention provides nucleic acids comprising a sequence of nucleotides as described here, which encodes for at least one sesquiterpeno synthesis. In another form of realisation, the invention also takes into account sesquiterpeno syntheses and methods of producing and using these enzymes. For example, sesquiterpeno syntheses of the invention can be used to transform farnesyl-pyrophosphate into several sesquiterpenos, including patchool, it;sym -curcumene and other sesquiteins of the germacre type.
