The invention relates to a compression refrigerator based on solar thermal energy. According to the invention, the refrigerator is composed of two main parts, each made of a cylinder (C1 and C2) with piston and connected by the piston rods, one of the cylinders serving to convey the refrigerant and the other to convey the air with increased pressure as a result of the heating in a boiler heated by solar tubes, the circulation of the two fluids being ensured by some electrically-operated intake and outlet valves (V1, V2, V3, V4, V5, V6, V7 and V8), two for each of the four chambers formed by the pistons in the two cylinders, the operation of the electrically-operated valves (V1, V2, V3, V4, V5, V6, V7 and V8) being correlated with the displacement of the pistons, the surfaces of the pistons in the two cylinders being different, which leads to an increase of the pressure of the refrigerant relative to that of the heated air, reaching to a pressure which ensures the liquefaction of the refrigerant.
