One aspect of the application relates to a driving system for automated driving with at least automated lateral guidance for a motor vehicle. The driving system is configured to determine that one or more indications that a current or imminent manual steering intervention does not take place inadvertently but rather is desired by the driver are present. The driving system has the effect that, when the at least one indication of the steering intervention desired by the driver is found to be present, the steering torque which is necessary to deactivate the lateral guidance is lower in terms of absolute value than when the at least one indication of a desired steering intervention is not present.
