#$%^&*AU2020100766A420200702.pdf#####Scramjets are airbreathing engines for hypersonic aircraft. A scramjet consists of an inlet, a combustor and a thrust nozzle. The inlet captures the airflow passing through the scramjet and compresses the air to conditions suitable for combustion of fuel. The disclosed scramjet inlet has fixed geometry and involves a shape transition. Shape transition is desirable in scramjet inlets so that both its capture shape and exit shape can be independently specified (to meet geometric requirements of the hypersonic aircraft and the scramjet combustor). Fixed geometry is desirable in scramjet inlets in order to simplify manufacture. A key feature of the inlet is the highly swept leading edges that enable the inlet to be open until cowl closure.
