The pulsating-type heavy medium shallow slot separating device enhances the effect of separating by means of a pulsating flow of the air chamber, completely disperses and stratifies run-of-mine coal, and precisely stratifies according to density, being able to effectively separate materials of a small granularity level, reducing the lower limit of shallow slot separating, and improving the separating precision of shallow slot separating. In addition, the heavy medium fed into the shallow slot can keep a stable suspension state, improving the utilization rate of the medium, and reducing the medium consumption. In addition, further disclosed is a separating method using the pulsating-type heavy medium shallow slot separating device.
