Disclosed are a method and an apparatus for shortening a standard advanced motion vector predictor (AMVP) generation time after parallel processing of motion prediction in an high efficiency video coding (HEVC) encoder. According to an aspect of the present invention, The method for a shortening standard AMVP generation time after parallel processing of motion prediction in an HEVC encoder comprises the steps of: preparing motion vector (MV) information for blocks in a plurality of directions as AMVP candidates in HEVC; selecting one MV information by prioritizing according to each direction; and selecting two different MV information as a final AMVP by prioritizing according to each direction.
