The present invention relates to a gold nanoparticle having a high index facet by using a synchrotron radiation and a method for manufacturing the same. The method of the present invention can manufacture a polyhedron gold nanoparticle having a form of truncated octahedron or icosahedron, which has a high-index facet. In addition, the polyhedron gold nanoparticle selectively enhances radiation sensitivity compared to an existing gold nanoparticle, thereby being useful as a radiation sensitizer increasing a therapeutic effect by radiation.
