SATELLITE-BASED ATMOSPHERIC MOTION VECTOR CALCULATION METHOD USING OPTICAL FLOW METHOD

The present invention relates to a satellite-based atmospheric motion vector (AMV) calculation method using an optical flow method to provide similar or improved accuracy. According to the present invention, the satellite-based atmospheric motion vector calculation method using optical flow method uses images of an infrared channel (11.2) and steam channel (6.2) of Himawari-8 satellite and an AMV is calculated for a case of using model data as an estimated initial wind value, a case of using an optical flow as the estimated initial wind value, and a case of not using the estimated initial wind value. Moreover, to view that the estimated initial wind value affects the size of a target, the size of the target is varied from 12 to 46. The calculated AMV is verified with ERA-Interim data and a quality index (QI) of the AMV used for verification is 0.80 or greater.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2020
