The present invention relates to a method for producing a peptide derived from beef, and to a composition for preventing, treating or improving hypertension or degenerative neurological disease comprising a beef-derived peptide prepared therefrom as an active ingredient. According to the method of manufacturing the beef-derived peptide of the present invention, there is no risk of denatured protein because of no additional process or chemical treatment that is harmful to human body, and the protein can be separated in high yield while maintaining its original properties. Enzymes used for the production of beef-derived peptides can be purchased and used at low cost, and there is no difference in degree of hydrolysis from general commercial enzymes, so that beef-derived peptides can be produced economically and efficiently using the enzymes. In addition, the beef-derived hydrolyzate or peptide according to the present invention is derived from natural materials and has no toxicity and side effects, and has been shown to exhibit angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitory effect and neuronal cell protective effect, preventing or treating hypertension or degenerative neurological disease. It is expected to be usefully used as a composition for improvement, or the like.
