A wearable writing instrument comprises a number of sections 2, 3, 10 connected together in a chain-like arrangement, including a writing section 2, an end connector 3 which can be releasably engaged with the writing section 2, and a plurality of body sections 10; adjacent sections 2, 3, 10 are provided with a rigid plug and socket connection and are also linked by a flexible connection 18; the sections can be rigidly joined together in a writing configuration (fig 1) and the flexible connection 18 interconnects the sections such that, when the rigid connection is released, the end connector 3 can be engaged with the writing section 2 in a bracelet configuration; means for pulling the spigot or plug and socket connectors together is provided and may be in the form of magnets or resilience of the flexible connection 18. A magnetic fastener including a spigot and socket is also disclosed.
