System for pollutant collection(SOx-NOx-particulate matter PM2.5 and PM10)found in the exhaust gas of high power diesel engines with recovery of sulphur
A system for collecting sulphur compounds (SOx), nitrogen oxides (NOx), and particulate matter PM10 and PM2.5 from the emissions of a diesel engine, specifically marine engines comprising a collector (4,fig1), a gas flow cooler (fig 2), a purification device 32, multi-nozzles for washing gases 26,27,29, venture scrubber 49, reactor with stirrer (fig 4), and precipitator separator 70,71, fig 4). The exhaust gases are collected and cooled in a water-cooled chamber prior to being washed/scrubbed with a sodium carbonate (NaCO3) solution preferable 0.02M to 1M, and anionic surfactants to remove PM1.5-PM10. The washed gases and unused solutions are roughly separated in a containment chamber where the gases are mixed with ozone (O3). The gases then enter a venturi separator to further separate the liquid from the gases. The partially purified gases are pumped under pressure into a reactor where the gases are mixed with barium chloride (BaCl2) (61,62 fig 4) and water (59, fig4) to form a solution preferably 0.05M to 1.6M; wherein the sulphur compounds are captured in precipitated barium sulphite (BaSO3) and barium sulphate (BaSO4) separated and collected. The solid precipitates of the SOx may be used to produce fertilisers for example. The system is modular.
